Pride & Premeditation | June Book Club

The sunshine is poking through the clouds and June is here, which can only mean book club.

While we are on an interim break for the podcast, we are still running the book club, and this month is another corker. For the month of June at the The Island Library Book Club, we are reading a new release, Pride and Premeditation by Tirzah Price.

Blurb: Pride and Premeditation

Perfect for fans of the Lady Janies and Stalking Jack the Ripper, the first book in the Jane Austen Murder Mysteries series is a clever retelling of Pride and Prejudice that reimagines the iconic settings, characters, and romances in a thrilling and high-stakes whodunit.

When a scandalous murder shocks London high society, seventeen-year-old aspiring lawyer Lizzie Bennet seizes the opportunity to prove herself, despite the interference of Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, the stern young heir to the prestigious firm Pemberley Associates.

Convinced the authorities have imprisoned the wrong person, Lizzie vows to solve the murder on her own. But as the case-and her feelings for Darcy-become more complicated, Lizzie discovers that her dream job could make her happy, but it might also get her killed.

Described as a mystery, thriller meeting historical fiction.

We are so excited to read this book, especially as one host is a fan of Jane Austen and the other (Jo, we can name and shame her) hasn't ever read any of her work. If you're interested in joining the book club, click here to read more.

Have you read Pride and Premeditation, and have some thoughts you'd love to share?

Please get in touch, they may even be shared on the podcast when the episode is released.

Book Club Date

Our next meeting is the 4th of July at 15:30 BST. Our bookclub is virtual, allowing its members to join from the comforts of their homes.

If, however, you want to recommend a book or have any thoughts on our current reads and wish to submit questions to the podcast, please use our contact form to get in touch.
